David Livingstone
David Livingstone has led a busy life. It seems like he was always doing something. He is well known for his exploration of South Africa. Even as a child he was a hard worker.
David Livingston was born on March 19, 1813. He started working at the cotton mill where his family lived in a building owned by the mill at age ten. His father taught him how to read and write. As he worked he taught himself Latin. He saved up money to go to college to be a doctor. He married Mary Moffat Livingstone. They had six kids; Robert who died in the Civil War, Anges, Tomas, Elizabeth who died when she was two months old, William Oswell and Anna Mary.
He went to explore South Africa as a missionary doctor. He was the first white man to find Victoria Falls. He made a medicine called “Livingstone Rousers”. It was made up of Jalap, rhubarb, colomel and quinine. It cured tropical ulcers, scurvy, and malaria.
The reason David Livingstone is well known today is the saying “Dr. Livingstone I presume.” Here’s the story. Everyone thought David had gotten lost in Africa. Henry Morton Stanley was sent to find him by the New York Herald newspaper. When Henry saw David he greeted him with the words “Dr. Livingstone I presume.”
So, overall David Livingstone was a hard working person. He led a busy life until he died from malaria on May 1, 1873. He contributed to being a missionary doctor, and an explorer. Africa pays tribute to him with a lot of statues.

Happy Memorial Day
Memorial Day is for remembering our veterans who have fallen in the war. A nice way to celebrate this holiday is to invite family and friends to your house and have time to remember our veterans. I spend this day remembering, not playing video games. Schools have a day off.
